LINC uses art to elevate scientific, academic, and policy-related communication about Florida’s natural and cultural heritage.
LINC’s projects often include modern communications tools, such as web-based multimedia, for cross-platform marketing. Printed components from LINC projects are exhibited and disseminated throughout Florida in books, traveling exhibits, shows and screenings to target a variety of markets, from government officials and stakeholders to residents and tourists.
Capturing what we can’t afford to lose
FLORIDA FOREVER has been preserving natural Florida for more than two decades. Yet more than a million acres of sensitive land and water are still in desperate need of protection. Once more this year, Florida’s leading conservation photographers have joined forces to showcase what remains to be saved.
Florida Wildlife Corridor
Connecting natural lands and waters from the Everglades to Georgia
The Florida Wildlife Corridor is a vision shared by leading national and state conservation organizations. To document the benefits of this vision directly from on-the-ground experience, the Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition will march across 1000 miles of the corridor in 100 days. LINC will capture the journey through documentary filmmaking. At the same time, LINC Affiliate Artists will capture the spirit of the Everglades through art.
Gulf Coast Fishermen
Perseverance and Resilience in Florida Fishing Communities
Beginning in the Gulf of Mexico in 2005, LINC has been documenting the vanishing culture of commercial saltwater fishing in Florida. Starting with the Cortez area and Cedar Key, several projects are now complete and more are on the way.
Preserving Florida’s Ranchlands
Fighting to save a threatened landscape and way of life
Cattle ranches embody the heritage of Florida. Environmentally, they protect some of the best wildlife habitat, wetlands and native landscapes in the state. LINC has coordinating a communications program to celebrate Florida’s ranching heritage, from both cultural and environmental perspectives.
